In Cybercore RPG, legacies are backgrounds that characters are familiar with from their upbringing, exposure to a particular environment, or through their family or mentors.
These legacies allow the character to take one or two optional knacks and quirks that reflect their background and give them a Boost in two skills.
Each time a Knack is taken, a Quirk must also be taken.
Characters can also work with the GM to create their legacy with unique knacks and quirks. As characters develop their legacy, they may outgrow their quirks.
When you begin your Legacy journey, you will start with the Legacy Item from your background.
This heirloom was passed down to you from your family or mentor. As you tinker with it during your travels through the Core and beyond, you can modify and improve its previous design to unlock new possibilities.
All Legacy Items follow the same tree structure, with the first node being unlocked automatically at rank one. You gain a Legacy point for each Rank you gain to improve your item further.
Second-tier abilities cost 2 points to unlock so you can unlock your first one at rank three; the third-tier nodes cost 3 points each, so you can unlock your first one at rank 6.
