The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the void.

SAROS: Shadows Over Andromeda.
The cold expanse of space, they say...; heh, Callan checked his Saros Suits HUD, a cozy 21deg; he chuckled as he jetted towards the dying starship Andromeda. Its distress signal had echoed across the void, a haunting reminder of the perils that lurked in deep space. The Andromeda's core was nearing a catastrophic overload; he looked along the hull, noting the stress fractures as it began to buckle outward from the internal pressures. He imaged its structure groaning under stress as only silence echoed across the intervening space.
Inside the vessel, the atmosphere was tense, a maze of damaged corridors, broken conduits, cables, and flickering lights. Callan moved with purpose, his suit's sensors guiding him to the trapped engineer, a young man, his name provided as his suit connected with the ship's AI. "Rael" lights up in flickering orange on his HUD, Algon with a count down in Red; the vessel didn't have long; by its own AI's calculations, he hoped the central processing core and seniors were still intact. He broke into the command deck, slicing through the jammed doors with his unicutter. The engineer was pinned under a massive titanium pylon, his face etched with pain and acceptance; hope glimmered there briefly as Callam stepped into the room.
Without hesitation, Callan activated his uni-cutter plasma slicer, its blue flame cutting through the titanium like clay. The pylon groaned and shifted; he pulled Rael free, Red medical symbols busting across his holo display as his AI activated his sensor's diagnostic routines. Rael's relief was palpable; there was no time for gratitude; the red symbols had hit simple digits. Callan fired his suit's boosters as his AI shut of the Grav slabs on this deck, propelling them towards the cockpit breakneck speed. They navigated through collapsing corridors and debris, the ship's death throes echoing around them.
Busting into the cockpit, Rael pointed to the reinforced Astroplex, doubting Callan's ability to break it with his laser pistol. But Callan pulled out a gyrojet rocket, a plexi-smasher, one of Saro's unique toys; firing it at the Astroplex, it burst outward, adding another million stars to the backdrop. Callan deployed a gelpack, an emergency spacesuit, slapping it onto Rael as the ship's atmosphere expelled them into deep space. Rael who grumbled about its discomfort. Callan ignored the complaint, focusing on their trajectory as they blasted into the void. A blue streak crossed his visions the Andromeda's AI, GiX-5, ejected out of the helm control pod. A reminder of his mentor's teachings about the importance of timing as the ship silently imploded behind them.
Floating in the vastness, Callan tracked their heading, knowing they had narrowly escaped death. Despite rescue, he couldn't shake off the thought of his mentor's impending scolding. But in the end, what mattered was that they were alive; he signaled his AI to call in his ship from the minimum safe distance.
