Basic Training

Skills and Talents can only be learned and improved by training. Skills are generally acquired through a relationship with a Corporation.

When a character signs up with a Corporation they are given access to that corporation’s Basic Training where they complete three Tours of Duty learning the ropes and gaining Skills Tricks. By the end of Basic Training, you will have accumulated three Skill Tricks (ST's) and two Corporation Talents (CT's) to outfit your character with and perhaps a few extra quirks and abilities.

Different Corps, Syndicates, and Federations open up access to different trainable skills throughout Basic Training which takes about a year.

  • You must meet the Required Tier in order to be trained beyond Tactical Training. Thus a character will never complete Basic Training with a Skill Trick Higher than Tactical.

Corporation Training

There is then a small chance that the character sustains a mishap, or injury while training.

At the end of each tour you roll on one of the Corporations Tour’s of Duty Training Tables applicable to your current Tour and take the result.

When Basic Training is complete the character gains the Tour of Duty success reward for their Corporation and can choose a reward from the list that they feel best fits their character.

  • If a character finishes Basic Training and the player does not like the outcome, he will need to work with his GM, the idea is for everyone at the table to enjoy the characters they are playing and the character creation process, If a particular Querk gained through Basic Training Corporation Table is something that the player feels he is unable to roleplay into, they can simply drop it, rolling again should not be an option as it promotes min/maxing.
  • These rolls need to be made in front of a DM or in the online character creator.

When your Tour is over you are discharged from Basic Training and ready for your first mission.

As your influence within your organization increases so do your training opportunities and as you complete missions you will rank up within your chosen organization and earn opportunities to learn more Skill Tricks. See your chosen Corporation or Syndicate for details.

Skill Bonus

As your career progresses and you and your learn more Skill Tricks around a skill you will notice some Tricks come with a situational Skill Bonus. These are cumulative and when your GM asks for a skill check you add these bonuses up and add them to the Skill roll.
